Overview
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has a new headquarters building. The project, named Al-Sheraa (Arabic for sail), is the tallest, largest, and smartest net Zero Energy Building (ZEB) in the world. It is located in the heart of the Cultural Village of Al Jadaf, Dubai. This latest achievement confirms Dubai’s global position as a role model for leading organisations in sustainability, innovation, and shaping the future.
Insights
This project consists of high-performance façade units with triple glazed units with U< 0.93W/m2 K. Moreover some of the panels are fitted with Building Integrated Photovoltaics solar panels through which power is going to be generated.
Glazed units at the spandrel areas have 1-hour fire rating infills and 2 hours of fire protection for the Slab edge.
All the Aluminium sheet panel cladding are coated in a Super durable finish to achieve A1 fire classification as per BS EN 13501-1
Fire Rated Doors, Fire RatedPartitions, Fire Rated hinged windows in the corridor area have been installed with Dubai Civil Defense approved systems. Fire Rated materials have been supplied by FORSTER and Fire Rated glass has been supplied by SG VETROTECH. All Fire Rated systems in the project have been manufactured and installed by the Al Abbar Group team.
